My favorite nursery! I drive 30 minutes and bypass many other options to shop here as I appreciate the knowledgeable and friendly staff. I mostly go for the annuals to contribute to my container addiction; Calabrosia, geranium, torinia, and bagonias, but if you are in need of perennials, there are plenty to choose from! If you're going to go, make sure you consider joining the discount program... It will pay for itself if you're anything like me!
I recently went to check this store out and found a white monster monstera. I found two white monsters and wanted to get both. I noticed one of them was basically out of the pot and had root rot because the roots were black and mushy. I went to the checkout counter and asked if there was a discount because the plant was clearly struggling even though it was already on the sales floor. The person checking me out called her manager up and she told me that all the plant needed was a little bit of dirt. The plant clearly had root. I was very nervous about buying the other white monster after that interaction. Sure enough, I got home and checked the roots of the pot and found that there was only 1 root that was about half an inch long. The plant was in a 4 inch pot. I was extremely upset that whoever was running the greenhouse would put this very expensive plant that I am paying for at risk of root rot, which is clearly what happened to the other plant. I don’t know who would work at a greenhouse and ever do that to any plant. Also, why am I paying more for this plant in a 4 inch pot, when it clearly should have been in the seedling pot? I would be fine paying for a plant in the 4 inch pot if the roots were well established. Now I am stuck repotting the plant earlier than expected which could stress the plant and ruin its growth. Needless to say, I will not be returning here and I would recommend that no one who actually cares about their plants or a nursery being honest with them(which you would expect from a store like this) shop here ever. On top of that the condescending tone from the manager was unprecedented when she clearly doesn’t know anything about plants(how do you not know what root rot is?) I would go as far as to say that Home Depot or Lowe’s is a better spot to buy indoor plants, with them you know that you’re probably getting root rot right off the bat, you’re getting a reasonable price for the appropriate size of the plant and the conditions it’s in, and you actually get workers who don’t argue with you when they don’t know what they are talking about.
I've seen so many good things about this place and yesterday I got to experience one myself. I told the nice lady at the counter what size potting soil i was getting and before I was even checked out, a nice gentleman had it already on a cart and ready to take to my car for me! She also gave me water bottles for my thirsty pups! Amazing service!
London Bridge nursery is the BEST in Virginia Beach! The quality of their plants is only second to the quality of their staff. We have an area that’s hard to grow anything in and the time their associate, Kennedy, spent with us to help us find the best fit for our yard was unlike any experience we have had anywhere in the past. We so appreciate the time and education!
The staff was very unhelpful they did not once offer to help us or ask if we needed help finding anything, they preferred playing on their phones talking amongst themselves. We weren’t even 2 steps out of the store when they locked it behind us at 5:40pm. During check out they asked if either of us were military veteran or first responder I said yes they asked to see a valid ID I showed them my Veterans Affairs ID card and they stated they can not accept that which is absolutely insane. Will definitely not shop here again.
